I knew I wanted to go into the field of mental health and psychiatry when I started undergraduate school. I have worked in the field for over 25 years, starting my career in the area of crisis intervention counseling, outpatient mental health counseling and program administration. Additionally I occasionally teach psychology classes at several local colleges in our area.
My undergraduate degree is in psychology and my graduate degree was obtained in 1981 in counseling from Shippensburg University. I work with individuals, couples, families, older children and adolescents. I have worked with all ages of clients with a wide variety of issues and diagnoses. I have done a great deal of training in the field of trauma work and dissociation and am a certified hypnotherapist. I am interested as well in other areas of the healing arts, have studied Reiki and other areas of energy work and have worked with some clients in past life regression work. I definitely believe in a holistic approach to health, healing, and well-being.

I come to the field of psychiatry with many experiences that I believe make me a well rounded provider. I was a critical care nurse for many years and spent time as an administrator. Additionally, I have my family practice degree and continue to keep my hands in the field of medicine by continuing to work part time in this field. As my real passion was in psychiatry, I went back to school and completed a program to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner I believe in treating every individual as a unique human being and that includes a belief in a holistic approach to their mental health issues. I realize one plan does not fit everyone and am committed to working with each individual to design the best approach to their treatment needs. Education is paramount to me and I believe in educating individuals about their diagnosis as well as their medications. I believe that it is a priviledge and an honor when one entrusts their mental health needs to my care.
