At my former congregation in West Chester, we always had some young people taking part in the high school musicals. We would try to go and support our youth – hitting 2 or 3 shows each year – and loving every minute of it. We got to experience and learn this genre called “Broadway musical.” It became more intense when our own boys were in the musicals – then we would be going to 3 or 4 shows in one weekend alone! We were still loving it – even when one of our sons was featured in the “mooning” number in Grease, and especially when one of our sons danced with his future wife in the Shipoopi number from Music Man.
