Marshall, Parker & Associates was founded in 1980 by Attorney Jeff Marshall whose family had just struggled through his mother's long term illness and death. Jeff's vision was to create a law firm dedicated to providing the legal planning assistance needed by families with special needs such as having a family member, like his mother, in need of long term care. Several years later this type of legal practice became known as elder law, and Jeff is now recognized as "the father of elder law in Pennsylvania."
Jeff and the other five lawyers at Marshall, Parker & Associates have won numerous awards and are frequently quoted by national publications on issues related to elder law, planning for owners of gas leases, special needs planning and estate planning. Our firm's lawyers have received awards as Certified Elder Law Attorneys*, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Top 100 Lawyers in Pennsylvania, and for Excellence in Elder Law.
We serve Pennsylvania families from our four offices in Jersey Shore, Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre & Scranton.
We have developed this website to serve as a resource for our clients and their families and for those professionals who provide services to them. On these pages you will find information about long term care, including home care options, nursing home planning, Medicaid (medical Assistance), Medicare, Veterans Aid and Attendance, special needs planning and other issues that confront a family member in need of ongoing care and assistance. You will also find information about wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance health care directives and other legal tools that can be used to protect the financial security and personal autonomy of older adults and to ensure that their wishes will be followed both during their lifetimes and after they are gone. If you or your family members need assistance with estate planning, special needs planning, gas leasing, dealing with gas royalties, handing a decedent's estate, or planning for aging, illness, and long term care, you have come to the right place.
Marshall, Parker & Associates provides comprehensive estate planning and specialized lifetime planning from our offices in Williamsport, Jersey Shore, and Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Our services Include:
Traditional Estate Planning: We provide our clients with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianship, and estate administration services. We are proud of our firm's reputation for thoroughness, quality, and service. We will help you and your family through the maze of legal, tax, and family issues.
Gas Royalty Planning: Marcellus Shale gas development is creating new prosperity for many Pennsylvania families, but much of this wealth can be lost unless landowners get expert legal planning to maximize and protect it. At Marshall, Parker and Associates we have the expertise required to guide landowners through the process - from the initial lease through drilling and development to protecting your resources for future generations. If you have been contacted about a lease and have questions, call us - our attorneys have reviewed hundreds of gas company leases.
Lifetime Planning: We are specialists in legal planning for seniors, and 5 of our lawyers have met the stringent requirements established by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and have been named Certified Elder Law Attorneys.* We are experts in planning for the problems families encounter when a member of the family needs long term care. We help families protect their assets and estates from the high cost of nursing home, assisted living, and home care. Call us if your family member is facing the need for long term care. Whether the need arises due to Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, autism, down syndrome, vascular problems (e.g. stroke), heart disease, diabetes, respiratory problems (e.g. COPD), falls, or other causes, we can usually help. We can help caregivers find ways to get the help they need to keep their loved one at home for as long as possible, get the highest care, and obtain financial assistance from Medicaid, the Veterans Administration and other governmental programs to pay for the needed care.
If nursing home placement becomes necessary, we work with the facility to help make the transition go as smoothly as possible. We make certain that the nursing facility gets paid in a timely manner while teaching the family how they can pay nursing home costs without losing their homes or going broke.
If you are concerned about losing your life's savings or your home to the cost of nursing home care, or if someone you love is facing a nursing home stay, or is already in a nursing home, you can benefit from Marshall, Parker & Associates' expert help.
We will show you the planning options available to you, and help you implement a plan tailored to your unique circumstances and needs.
