halloween jam 2010 part 2: photos, video & winners
I’ll keep the typing short for this because I know you’ve all just wanted to see the photos and watch the video from the Halloween Jam. What else do I really need to say that the photos and video don’t already tell you: IT WAS A FUN DAY. If you missed it, try not to blow it next year.
Video filmed & edited by Matt Pepe. **Video clip starts about 25 seconds in**
We didn’t actually end up giving a prize away for the Best Pro Skater Look-a-like because we gave the prize out for something- and I think my costume was the best anyway. Just Saying. I made a dope Antwuan Dixon. Think different? Come see me and you can catch my fade.

procrastinate now: to live and skate in afghanistan
We had a whole bunch of clips ready to post up but after we saw this we really wanted this short documentary on the growing skateboard scene in Afghanistan to be this week’s focus. A few week’s ago we posted up a clip about a growing scene in Uganda which really inspired us to be thankful for what we have here in the Bethlehem with the new skateplaza- and not to mention paved streets.
Yesterday was Veteran’s Day and no one alive can ignore the fact out soldiers- our friends and family- are overseas right now serving our country. Regardless of what you might think of the reasons they are there they are in harm’s way for the people they love back home and we can’t thank them enough. Afghanistan is one of those places where all we hear about it is war and bloodshed but today we hope you take the time to see that there’s more than that.
Now there is skateboarding- thanks to a wonderful program called Skateistan. Check out the short documentary put together by Orlando von Einsiedel (more…)

the thursday drop: nike sb loon dunk, the hundreds, es, dvs, toy machine & homebase apparel
This week we’re dropping some long awaited Nike SB HEAT and finally got a HUGE re-up on snapback hats from The Hundreds. Speaking of re-up’s, we got in more classic Homebase apparel designs including the LU Ballers T-Shirts and Hoodys.
It was a pleasant surprise to unpack the “Loon” Nike SB Dunk Low Premium designed by the Nike SB midewest sales manager.
For those not keeping up on all the blogs, the Loon is Minnesota’s State Bird. The shoe’s colorway mimics the bird’s unusual features. I’m no expert so I’m not sure how rare the bird is but Homebase ONLY GOT 8 PAIRS of the “Loon” Dunk making it VERY RARE. (more…)

halloween jam 2010 part 1: the saugy s.k.a.t.e. showdown 2 finals.
Most of you guys already know how it ended but for those that don’t- here’s how it the 2nd Saugy S.K.A.T.E. Showdown came to a close at the 2010 Homebase Halloween Skatejam.
There were a lot of new faces and surprises in our second flatground tournament that started back in the Spring. Every other Monday two pairs of skaters faced off to see who would advance in the 32 skater bracket. In the end it came down to 4 skaters: Ben Taylor, Hyung Juhn, Anthony Morales and Jackie Nguyen.
The mix skaters came from the Allentown, Bethlehem and Macungie areas and all of them were a lot younger than the skaters who made it into the finals in 2009.
It was only right we ended the tournament at our biggest event of the year, the Halloween Costume Skatejam alongside our Best Trick Contest and the Downhill Deathrace to make for an fun Fall day for everyone who made it out. Enough talk, let’s get into the matches and don’t scroll all the way down if you don’t want to know who won. . . (more…)
