March 2010Truly Something Special!!!!!
"Battlefield Bed and Breakfast is located behind and in the shadows of Big and Little Roundtop(s) yet close enough to Gettysburg town, iconic battlefields, historic monuments and buildings to easily experience all this revered and magical place has to offer.

Yet, this Bed and Breakfast quietly weaves its own tapestry of serenity, history, charm and hospitality....

The rooms, especially in the original, old part of the house, are thoughtfully and graciously appointed and full of rustic Civil War era touches.

You really feel you've stepped back a century or more and it really adds to the Gettysburg experience. The superb breakfasts with the CW re-enactors and historians are beyond magical....

Thank you Florence and all who make this place so special and welcoming - we hope this wonderful place will be available to us for many years to come!!!" -

Dining Room at Battlefield Bed & Breakfast

My wife Sandy and I want to thank you for helping to make our trip to Gettysburg so memorable. Staying at your lovely Bed and Breakfast was to say the least extremely enjoyable and memorable. Our hosts, the room, food, company, Rick Garlands music and history before breakfast, all helped to make our stay so very enjoyable.

The most memorable part about our stay however was the visit to our room by the young lady in blue. We were staying in the Harts Artillery room and it was sometime in the middle of the night probably around 2 or 3 am (I didn't check the time). My wife Sandy was sleeping beside me and I was sitting up in bed when the image of a young lady in a light blue dress or apron looking to be in her late teens or early twenty's appeared at the foot of the bed.

She had a big white bow in her blond hair and she sort of walked/glided over to the side of the desk where the lamp is. She then bent over the desk and it looked as if she was either reading or writing, I couldn't tell which. I thought I must be dreaming (I even slapped myself) but I wasn't) I just sat there and stared silently.

She remained for what seemed like a few minutes and then disappeared. When she disappeared, a rust colored mist hovered just above the lamp shade for another couple of minutes and then the mist too disappeared.

Florence, if anyone had told me this story I would say "yeah right" and laugh but it happened and I wanted to share it with you.
Thanks again for helping to make our trip so enjoyable. we definitely plan on staying with you again.
