Hill Street Veterinary Hospital (formerly Hartenstein Veterinary Hospital) is the oldest continuously-run animal hospital in the York area, helping to keep our animal friends happy and healthy since 1941. Our experienced veterinary and technical staff is dedicated to providing thorough and consciencious medical care for your pet. Our facility boasts a comprehensive range of services and equipment.

Dr. George L. Hartenstein IV, is the son of the late Hill Street Veterinary Hospital founder Dr. George L. Hartenstein III. Dr. Hartenstein is primarily a large animal clinician. He has been traveling around York County, attending to the needs of our local farmers since his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. In addition to his medical and surgical obligations to our large animal friends, Dr. Hartenstein sees companion animals at the office on Hill Street 3 days-a-week.
Dr. Albert L. Haun, also a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, joined the veterinary staff at Hill Street Veterinary Hospital in 1985. Dr. Haun is a companion animal clinician. Previously, Dr. Haun had been a member of a surgical referral practice in New Jersey. In addition to his phenomenal diagnostic skills, his area of expertise is orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Liz Valles joined the veterinary staff at Hill Street Veterinary Hospital in January 2010. Dr. Valles comes to us with extensive experience in emergency medicine. She is a 2003 graduate of Washington State University. Dr. Valles has raised Jack Russell Terriers for 20 years and is highly active in the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America. She is a Conformation and Go-to-Ground Judge as well as an elected member of the JRTCA Board of Directors.
