Distinctive Art for Discriminating Taste
lizabeth (Betty) Asche Douglas is owner and principal artist of Douglas Art Gallery. Shown above are six the eight art books/catalogs her work has been included in si nce 2005. She currently has work on exhibit in the 23rd National Exhibition at the African
American Museum, Dallas, TX, a Women of Visions exhibition at Penn State, New
Kensington, PA, "Standing Out from the Crowd" at Sweetwater Center for the Arts,
Sewickley, PA, the 5th Annual Summer Gallery at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center,
Midland, PA, and the Annual Small Works Salon at the New Arts Program, Kutztown, PA.
With a BFA in painting & design from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie
Mellon University), Asche Douglas launched her professional career a half century ago
with a prize-winning entry in the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh's 42nd annual at the
Carnegie Museum of Art. She went on to earn a Master's degree in art history at the
University of Pittsburgh. She works in a variety of media and styles.

awards distinctions, solo exhibitions and inclusion in invitational and juried exhibitions
throughout the U.S. Her professional career is archived in the National Museum of
Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. Her biography is referenced in the 2010 edition of
Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who Among African Americans,
Who's Who in the East; the National Registry of Who's Who; the International Directory of
Women in the Arts; Outstanding Educators of American; The International Biographical
Centre, Cambridge, U.K.; Outstanding Achievers of the 21st Century. Her work is included
in public and private collections throughout the U.S. and abroad, as well as represented in several major slide registries around the country.
As Betty Douglas, she performs as a musician and lecturer/ performer. Artistry in Song
is the name used for this aspect of her work. She was inducted into the Beaver Valley
Musicians' Hall of Fame in 2003.
