There really is "no place like home." We believe that staying at home is very important to people. Home is where things are familiar, a place to maintain a sense of autonomy and control. Remaining at home nurtures a person's emotional and physical health, dignity, personal security, and desire for freedom and independence.
For thousands of seniors, whose needs at home are not being met in Beaver County, staying at home is difficult or impossible. As many as 80% face the dangers of falls and complications from diabetes and other long-term chronic diseases, and 50% of them will need help with simple but vital everyday activities such as eating, bathing, walking, shopping and housekeeping. Many are living with an equally frail caregiver who will become ill themselves.
