Welcome to Board Certified Pediatric Dentistry! By visiting our website, you have already taken the first step in assuring your child grows up with a beautiful smile! The best way to reach this goal is to introduce your child to dentistry at an early age. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child be seen anytime after their 1st birthday. The earlier we see a child, the earlier we can educate you and check your child for dental disease. We hope you will use this web site to learn about our office and the board certified pediatric dental care we provide.
First time visits:
A routine dental visit is the best, most non-threatening way to introduce your child to our office. This initial exam gives Dr. Luccy and his staff an opportunity to meet you and your child. Young children are examined and have their teeth cleaned while laying back in the parent's or caregiver's arms. Our hygenist will show you how to effectively brush your child's teeth while she cleans them. The comprehensive exam we perform is done quickly and painlessly. While your child picks a prize for being a good helper, Dr. Luccy will review his findings and answer any and all of your questions.
X-rays are taken only when necessary. They are used to detect decay, infection, position and location of developing permanent teeth, and any abnormalities. Maximum protection to reduce radiation exposure is accomplished by utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, ultra-speed film, lead aprons and the minimum number of films.
You May Be Very Surprised to Learn that:
The most important factor in who gets dental disease is heredity.
Where decay is concerned, it's not what you eat but how many times you eat.
Most water supplied to homes in our region does not contain fluoride.
If you don't drink fluorinated water, there are better ways to get fluoride to combat dental disease than by giving fluoride pills/vitamins.

To enable us to reach as many children as possible, we participate in most dental insurance programs. While this list is not totally inclusive, the major contracts we currently participate with include:
If we are not a participant with your insurance, we may still be able to see your child. However, you will be responsible for any non-covered services or co-payments. We will make every effort to let you know in advance of any dental charges you will be responsible for. Payment will be due on the day of service. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted.
Dental disease is currently the most common bacterial infection in children. The resulting pain and infection result in missed school for many children. Accordingly, Pennsylvania law defines a dental appointment as a legal excuse for school absence. We are always happy to supply your child with an appropriate legal excuse. If your childs school questions the legality of this issue, please contact our office and we will be happy to discuss it with them.
