Ive been avoiding the library. It feels weird, because I love the library. All spring and summer I was in a great routine of going once or twice each week. My house is less than ten minutes away! I could run over on the spur of the moment, and luxuriate in the rows of books to choose from. Love, love, love the library.
But I had this severely overdue book; one of those books youre only supposed to have out for a week. I finished it in plenty of time, but some stuff happened and then some more stuff happened, and even though it was on the front seat of my car I just couldnt find the time to bring it back. The longer I delayed, the worse I felt. The longer it was overdue, the harder it seemed to get to the library at all. I didnt even want to put it in the book drop. I know it was silly, made no sense, but thats the way it was. I was embarrassed, and out of my routine. I started avoiding the library.

Lecture series on Islam in November
We welcome once again, Dr. David Grafton, of the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, for a three-part series on Islam and the West this month.

Community Thanksgiving Eve Worship
On behalf of the Upper Mainline Ministerium, St. Luke will once again host a community Thanksgiving Eve Service of word, prayer and praise. Our preacher for the evening will be the Rev. Dawn Taylor Storm from St. Matthews Methodist Church of Valley Forge. more

Worship when the Holidays are difficult
It's not always easy to be upbeat and cheery for the Christmas holidays. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other dis-ease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and joviality painful for many people in our congregation and community.

At St. Luke, we want to create sacred space for people living through dark times. On Sunday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m., we will hold a gentle, reflective service that welcomes all people -whatever we are feeling about the holidays - holding out healing and hope. There will be a time to light a candle in memory of a person, relationship or time in our life that we are grieving.

Join us for a time of comfort and rest in the chapel, followed by light refreshments.

We will gather in Schlack Hall and have a Potluck Supper (everyone is asked to bring their favorite kid-friendly food), time for fellowship, play and fun and a discussion about worship How can I be a parent and worship at the same time?!?! We hope to see all of you parents here on Saturday, November 13th for this wonderful time of fellowship, fun and discussion.

St. Luke volunteers provide food and to serve approximately 35 people at the Salvation Army in the borough of West Chester at 4:30 p.m. on the Second Saturday of every month. Volunteers decide among themselves what each will bring for the meal. more
