Babcock Lumber Company's Finewood Division produces the finest quality products in finished hardwoods and hardwood stair parts.Hardwood: Species
Red Oak, Poplar, Maple, Cherry, Walnut, along with other domestic hardwood. These hardwoods can be purchased in many ways. The most popular being surfaced four sides (S4S) to the thickness, width and length desired.
Stair Parts: Species

Red Oak and Poplar, along with other species available on a special order basis. They consist of quality manufactured stair parts, which include styles that enhance any environment that calls for a stair part system. These include: Newel Posts, Handrail, Balusters, Shoerail, Treads and Risers. A new program of Box Newels with Metal Balusters has also become available.

Softwood is a generic term used in woodworking and the lumber industries for wood from conifers (needle-bearing trees from the order Pinales). Softwood-producing trees include pine, spruce, cedar, fir, larch, douglas-fir, hemlock, cypress, redwood and yew. As the name suggests, softwoods are obviously softer than hardwoods, but there are notable exceptions; Douglas fir, a softwood, is harder and stronger than many hardwoods, while balsa, technically a hardwood, is much softer than even most softwoods
