Since 1975, Maeno Jewelers has been committed to providing quality fine jewelry and service to the Pittsburgh community. Our showroom hosts traditional, contemporary and one-of-a-kind designs. In our shop located directly adjacent to the showroom, we produce many of our own pieces, and provide a range of services to the wholesale and retail clientele.
Maeno Jewelers takes pride in our intimate knowledge of the history of each piece that is made in our shop. Design, wax-carving, gold and silver casting, stone setting and finish work are all completed in-house. Stock pieces that are not made in-house, such as 18K-gold Italian chains and bracelets, hand-crafted earrings and loose gems are carefully scrutinized to obtain only those with the best balance of quality and value. As a certified gemologist and master craftsman, owner Masaru Maeno personally chooses all of the stones that are used in the studio and often creates pieces which are tailored to highlight a remarkable gem. Pearls are imported directly from Japan. Custom work is designed one on one with the client to create the best marriage of the individuals idea and our expertise in materials, technique and design.
Masaru Maeno was trained as a jeweler in his native Japan. In 1968, he immigrated to the United States, where he extended his study to western techniques of jewelry-making. Without great facility in the English language, Masaru relied on his visual and technical skill, and unrelenting tenacity, to learn and master new and different methods of working and living. For over 30 years, Masaru has continued to combine the best of his skills in Eastern and Western craftsmanship with his sensitivity to artful form.
