Spine Whisperers or Rack em and Crack em?
Some of our practice members have shared with us at McGlynn Chiropractic that their experiences and results from our treatment are hardly what they would find at a typical rack em and crack em chiropractic office or in fact most medical offices. In some of those offices, hard pressure applied to the spine forces the body to fight back in the form of muscle tightness. Our practice members (one who is an active participant in their own healing process versus one that is patient or passive while healing is being done to them) feel that the practitioners in our office provide a service they refer to as Spine Whispering.
Tina, Lynn, Betty, Debi and I are more apt to listen to your bodys internal feedback about your spinal health/balance at the very minute we are examining you, rather than to rely on what we feel only from the structure and adjust you based on what Greys Anatomy has told us as to proper structural alignment. We are encouraging your body to release its tension through sustained contacts, warm touch and gentle pressure. This works as a "cue" for a release from your body. The release we are expecting is similar to a big sigh. We then continue in another area until your body shows us that it has cleared or released enough today.
What are the benefits of working with a Spine Whisperer? People are quick to relax and allow themselves to form a relationship of trust with a practitioner that is not breaking their spirit, or forcing their spine to fight back and feel dominated. We practitioners at McGlynn Chiropractic agree that pushing through pain and fear do not result in the type of relationship that benefits our practice members sense of wellbeing and spinal health.
The object is for you to be calm and feel safe throughout your adjustment process and then the results will be remarkable. Yes, we absolutely rely on knowledge of human anatomy and the nervous system, meridians, chakras, aromatherapy and balance this knowledge with our intuition and your communication. Avoidance of painful pressure is our plan and we are very successful at that. Even our exercises are based on gentle and effective postures to achieve what everyone is looking for-balance, flexibility and less pain. By not hurting and shocking the spinal system, your body trusts us and learns to work with us in a partnership versus as an adversary to accomplish true spinal balance.
