OPEN YEAR ROUND!
We like to think of ourselves as "Country Victorian" - cozy, yet elegant and romantic. In our guest rooms you will find beautiful antiques and lace curtains along with many special touches. Relax on our wrap around veranda, comfortably furnished with rockers, flowering plants and a romantic old-fashioned wicker porch swing.
Of course, you can just relax on the veranda and enjoy the breeze from the mountains. Perhaps you'll catch a glimpse of a hummingbird flitting between the hanging plants or see a deer crossing the road.
We're one street away from the Appalachian Trail and minutes from the Delaware River. The Crossings Outlet Center, flea markets, wineries, fishing, canoeing, biking, rafting, golfing, antiqueing, horseback riding and a historic touring trolley are only minutes away. We're proud of our local museum and enjoy a yearly Jazz Festival in September, along with the mountains, skiing and snow sports in the winter.
Built in the early 1900's, our home was originally called "The Fair View House" because of the beautiful view of the valley. It was then opened as a boarding house. At the time, guests would come into the local train station and continue by coach to many local boarding houses much like ours.
In 1910 the Trablusi Family from New York bought the Fair View House and added the porch and third floor. They kept it as a summer retreat until it was sold in 1986. The Trablusi Family also owned Wolf Hollow Golf Course, which is now called the Delaware Water Gap Country Club.
The Shepard House was opened in 1990 and now welcomes guests to come and enjoy the scenic Pocono Mountains and all they have to offer.
