Elwyn is a unique organization. Founded in 1852, Elwyn has been providing services to people with special needs for over 155 years. Today, Elwyn is nationally recognized as a pioneer in developing groundbreaking programs for children and adults with disabilities and disadvantages. Our innovative culture and dedicated staff enable us to help more than 12,000 people each year build more independent, productive lives.
Today, Elwyn locations include the original Media, Pennsylvania campus and community sites throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, California and Florida. We have more than 80 group homes serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and 10 homes for people with mental illness. Elwyn has a dedicated, passionate staff of over 2,700 full and part-time employees and we provide employment experience to over 2,500 people each year in workshops and supported employment programs. We provide early intervention services to more than 5,000 children each year and offer special education to hundreds more. We are assured by Elwyn’s history, challenged by the changing world each day brings, and eagerly look toward tomorrow.
And Elwyn’s future looks bright. Our recipe for success has three ingredients: We have earned and continue to earn the public’s trust and support for our services. Our services are dynamic and continue to change to meet the needs of our consumers and the public. And we continue to attract a very dedicated, creative, and caring staff. After reading about Elwyn, one can’t help but be amazed at the changes that have occurred. But as amazing as those changes are, our core mission — to support individuals with diverse challenges in shaping distinctive, meaningful lives — has not changed.
