Water Gap Country Club, originally penned by A.W. Tillinghast and completed in 1922 by Robert White (the first PGA president and father of Grand Strand golf), hosted the Eastern Open from 1926 to 1928. During those years Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Leo Diegel and many other golf legends competed in this PGA event. They often came back to play this historic course in a more casual atmosphere to enjoy it's challenge and beauty. Water Gap retains its historic charm today, offering golfers a unique opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the golfing greats of the Golden Era of Sports.
