We invite you to visit and worship at Newtown United Methodist Church. The church is located at 35 Liberty Street, corner of Liberty and Greene Streets, one block from Washington Avenue and State Street (just behind the Brick Hotel). Come to worship, to learn, to be a part of a vibrant and caring community of faith whose goals are to grow in discipleship and to reach out in mission.
What a joy it is to be the pastor of Newtown United Methodist Church. While this congregation has a rich history dating back to 1840 its vibrancy is rooted in faith, outreach and creativity.
Within the last three years the congregation has stepped out in faith to reach out to Katrina victims, people in need in Appalachia, to feed the hungry in our own area and in support of the Bucks County Homeless Shelter. Our outreach question always seems to be how will we do it rather than if we can do it.
Our faith has also shown itself in creativity. Our Sunday school has developed a model of the Workshop Rotation Program, carried out with flair and enthusiasm. Several of our Sunday school rooms display high quality religious murals done by our members. Our adult choir, led by Wilann Spicia shares Gods love through a wide variety of anthems. Its not every church that is fortunate enough to have what we like to call our composer in residence. Ron McVey, our organist has written and continues to write hymns, responses and anthems, adding both the life and depth of locally created art to our worship.
So, I invite you to come and share my joy in this church and, perhaps choose Newtown United Methodist Church As the community where you live your faith.
