Mincin Insulation has been servicing the Pittsburgh area for more than 30 years. The company was founded in 1975 by Robert Mincin, a former local gas company employee, who saw a need for a weatherization program in the Pittsburgh market. "Bob" started the company with one insulation vehicle in 1975 and has grown to ten!
Mincin Insulation works as a sub-contractor for most of the local utility companies on their low income weatherization program. We also have our residential customers that we have been keeping warm and lowering their utility bills for years.
Mincin Insulation uses cellulose insulation, which is a superior insulation produced by nature. All-natural wood fibers within the product provide your home with maximum protection against high energy costs and cold, drafty walls.
Colorado University researchers reported that cellulose performs over 25% better than fiberglass in warm climates and nearly 40% better in cold weather conditions. Performance tests prove that some fiberglass products can lose 20%-40% of their effective R-values (resistance to heat) in winter conditions. Cellulose actually performs better in these conditions.
GREEN, made from recycled newspapers, is treated for pest control and is fire retardant. Cellulose insulation when installed properly makes a great insulator. We dense pack it in the walls and open blow it in attics. By dense packing in walls, there is no air flow unlike fiberglass products. Cellulose also makes a great sound deadener on interior walls.
