Lutheran Church Information Thank you for visiting our website. We are glad you stopped by. Perhaps you have questions about the Lutheran church. The following is a link to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) website that answers some common questions. Cick here for more information.
Childrens Church Continues Jigglers, lanyards, children's messages, Children's Church - these have been the marks of our autumn "Journey with Jesus" program. It was such a success for families with children that Children's Church will continue to be offered on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Worship will be in a simpler style on those days, while on first and third Sundays worship will return to our normal liturgical style.
Gods Family at Kellers Church We have been blessed by our Creator in more ways than we can possibly count. Many times these blessings are very obvious; other times it takes some searching to see them. And yet, how do we show our gratitude to God? Do we give sacrificially? Is the first check we write every week a thank-you to God? Do we make up for weeks that we miss attending worship? Are we attempting to grow in our giving?
What if God felt we had enough blessings and decided we did not need any more? What if God felt it was time for someone else to get the blessings? What if God skipped a period of blessings when he was busy elsewhere? Of course, He would not do that, for among all the blessings he has given us, His greatest blessing is summed up in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
We have truly been blessed! This month make a commitment of our Treasures to the work of the Lord through our family at Kellers Church. As you consider your commitment for the next year, please consider if you are returning to the Lord a fair share of the blessing he has bestowed upon you. We ask that every member increase their giving in accord with their blessing, to support and expand the work of this congregation locally and globally. St. Paul says, Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:7-8) Please see the November Newsletter for commitment card.
Seasons for Sharing: Social Ministry Opportunities As we approach seasons of thanksgiving and celebration, your Social Ministry Committee would like to extend to you two opportunities for giving.
1. We invite you to support Ingathering 2010 sponsored by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod. The Synod has sponsored this event for over 43 years. Ingathering provides people in need, locally and globally, with items such as health kits, school kits, layettes, and baby needs. Instructions cards will be available in the round room starting November 7th.
2. Also coming soon is the Head Start Christmas Giving Program. As in past years, we will gather the special Christmas gift wishes of the children and families of the Head Start program located at St. Matthews. You will have an opportunity to make Christmas a little brighter for program participants by purchasing them Christmas gifts. Watch for a Christmas tree and wish lists in the round room.
Interfaith Hospitality Network As done in the past, the members of St. Matthews will be joining the members of St. Peters UCC Church in hosting 2 homeless families during the month of November. We welcome the members of Solomons UCC Church who will also be joining this mission.
These families will be housed by the members of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church in the small house that is on their church property. The dates for our members to host the two families are November 15th thru November 30th. We have not yet been informed of the make-up of these families.
Our duties in this mission will include providing transportation, meals, laundry, over-night stays and friendly support to the families. Many folks who volunteered last year found this experience to be both enjoyable and rewarding.
