A native of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Dougherty attended undergraduate school at Pennsylvania State University and State University of New York, receiving a B.S. in Human Services. He received an M.A. and Psy.D. in counseling psychology from California Coast University, with an emphasis on addictions. He completed additional training at Wyoming Valley Pain and Rehabilitation Center Plains, Pennsylvania under the direction of Emanuel Jacob, MD. Dr. Dougherty has conducted research on the pharmacology of neuro-modulation. He is trained in biofeedback applications utilizing auditory visual facilitated biofeedback in the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Dougherty's experience includes employment with Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services for over 9 years. He is currently a psychological consultant for NEIU 19 Alternative Learning Program. He is also a consultant in Pain Management for Marworth Treatment Center, a nationally acclaimed addictions rehabilitation center.
